KALINA FILCHEVA

is a Sofia-based jewelry and accessory designer focused on wearable art objects and mixed-media body adornments. She graduated with a degree in Oriental Studies (Turkish and Ottoman) from New Bulgarian University and studied Applied Linguistic Turkology at Sofia University. However, her lifelong passion for art and craft led her to pursue a Master’s degree in Metalwork Design at the National Academy of Art in Sofia. Since graduating, she has participated in numerous local and international exhibitions and jewelry fairs.

As the founder and creative director of her studio, Kalina crafts distinct pieces inspired by organic forms, nature, and the internal landscapes of the body and mind. Her creative practice seamlessly fuses traditional metalsmithing processes with modern technologies, precious metals, and alternative materials. Working primarily with copper, brass, and silver, she expertly combines metalwork with handcrafted fiber-wrapped elements, custom enameling, and vibrant textiles.

Driven by a passion for bold shapes and provocative material pairings, Kalina uses color and form to reflect nuanced emotional states—intentionally transferring those feelings from the object to the wearer.

Her love for the original and extraordinary, combined with her dedication to jewelry design and craftsmanship, inspired her to launch Kia Fil, a neo-ethnic jewelry and accessory brand. The brand’s designs are an eclectic mix of materials and styles, coming together to form unique, contemporary aesthetics. Bold and original, every piece is a true statement designed for free-spirited individuals who choose to embrace their distinct identity and reveal their own style.

Since 2015, Kalina has regularly participated in design events hosted by the “Ivan Asen 22” conceptual platform.
